Ball Gown      
Typically a “Princess” look with a fitted bodice and full skirt

Sheath
A Fitted straight gown following the silhouette to the ground

Empire Line
This gown has no waistline seam, instead it has a seam under the bust line 

Mermaid
Fitted gown following the contour of the body and flares out below the knees

A Line
As the shape “A” suggests this gown flares out from the hips to the hemline.

Drop Waist
As the term implies, this style’s bodice extends down to the hips and follows with various shapes for the skirt.
